Welcome to Castle Mead Academy

Moving to Secondary School is a big step.  At Castle Mead Academy we aspire to give each scholar the best possible start in secondary education. To help you with a smooth and positive transition, we will do as much as we can to make sure you feel confident and ready to join our school.  Our transition programme starts long before scholars enrol with us which helps to ensures scholars and families are not only well informed, but also start to get to know some friendly faces before they start with us.

Please use this section of the website as your first port of call for any information specific to the transition process.

We are proud of all that we have achieved since we opened in 2019 and look forward to welcoming you on our journey as we continue to ‘Grow a Community of Excellence’

You can see some highlights of our journey so far in the video below.

SEND families and scholars

Our SENDCO and Inclusion Team have a wealth of experience and provide a nurturing and caring environment in which to support scholars with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The transition between primary and secondary school can be daunting for young people with SEND, but being informed and prepared for the transition process can help to make it a smoother process.

Free School Meals

If your child is eligible for free school meals, they may also benefit from additional funding throughout the year e.g., subsidised school trips and/or instrument fees.  Find out if your child qualifies for benefits-related free school meals and how to apply at the following link – Free school meals (leicester.gov.uk) .
